Mon - Ch. 4.4 - Solving Problems Using Obtuse Triangles.  I posed a Question/Problem to the students that they had to solve (after I reminded them of the basics to solve triangles).  Students needed to solve this problem on their own with the knowledge that they (now) have.  I assigned students to complete a Problem on Pages 193-194 of their choice.  DUE NEXT CLASS.  Unit Exam on Wednesday.

Tue - I reviewed transparency, transluscent, and opaque concepts and examples.  Then we reviewed wavelengths and frequency of the colors of the rainbow.
Thur - we went to the computer lab where students researched information on the 'colors of the spectru'm and 'polarization'

Mon - Ch. 3.6 - Solving expressions of the form ax^2 + bx + c.  We did a bunch of examples together as a class.  Then I assigned #7-13 from this section.

Mon - Lab - Pg. 431 Textbook.  We did a Lab to determine the Path of Light.  DUE 1 WEEK FROM TODAY.
Tue - We read through notes on 'Speed of Light' and then went to the computer lab to research Diffraction, White Light, Primary Colors, Secondary Colors, Pigments.
Wed - I let the students study for their 2 exams today in other courses, but students needed to finish their physics notes first.
Thur - students went to the computer lab to build a Crossword Puzzle for their notes that they made on Tuesday.

Mon - We discussed how to do a 'Cover Letter'.  Then we went to the computer lab and started researching a job from the Leader Post/Star Phoenix websites that we want to apply for and started writing our cover letter and finishing our Resume.  To get students to understand the Theory of 'How to do a Resume and Cover Letter', for homework they have to contact 5 DIFFERENT people who do hiring and research 1) How they decide who gets an Interview, 2) How many pages a Resume should be, 3) How many References they require (5 versus 3), 4) How long they prefer a Cover Letter to be, and 5) Do they prefer to have history in Chronological order with the most current information 1st or last.

Wed - Corrected Frequency Worksheet from yesturday.  I did an example of dealing with determining Periods of Pendulums.  Assigned: Read Pg. 378-380 and do Practice Problems on Pg. 379 #6, 7, 8.  DUE NEXT CLASS.

Fri - Corrected Pg. 379 Questions together as a class.  Then I put students into groups to discuss the Ch. 14.1 Section Review.  After that, students worked on Assignment Pg. 845 #14a-f.  DUE NEXT CLASS.

Tue - Ch. 2.2: Using Tangent Ratio to Calculate Lengths.  We did a couple examples and then students worked on an assignment: Pg. 82 #3ac, 4ac, 5a, 6, 7, 8, 9.  DUE NEXT CLASS.
Wed - Reviewed what the Tangent Ratio actually is and the Pythagorean Theorem.  Then we had a Quiz.  At the end of class, I put students in groups to start discussing the 'Try This' on Pg. 90 of textbook.  Will continue this next class.

Tue - A brief discussion of where parallel lines and transversals are evident in students' lives.  Then moved on to Ch. 2.2: Angles Formed by Parallel Lines.  We did a couple examples and then students worked on assignment: Pg. 78 #2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12.  DUE NEXT CLASS.
Wed - We reviewed how to Prove Angles.  Then I gave a Quiz.  From there, I did a couple examples from Ch. 2.3. Assignment: Pg. 90 #2, 3.  DUE NEXT CLASS.

Fri - We discussed the 'Problem Solving Strategies' Exercise that was due today.  Students who showed me that they worked on it got 5 out of 5.  This is an ongoing puzzle and the first student to email me the correct answer receives 2% added to their Final Mark.  Then we moved on and did another Example from Pg. 88 Ch. 2.3 (Proofs).  Assignment: Pg. 91 #7, 8, 11.  DUE NEXT CLASS.

Mon - Finished watching "Waves" video to introduce the new unit.  Students then had to start researching "Waves" terminology/definitions.

Wed - Students used my hotspot and their cell phones to continue definitions pertaining to Waves.  We went through all of the terms together as a class and then moved on to notes: Properties of Waves.
Thur - Students read Pg. 375-377 (Ch. 14) in textbook.  We discussed and made notes, then students worked on assignment Pg. 378 #1-5.  DUE NEXT CLASS.
Fri - Corrected yesturday's assignment.  We did Lab #3 Waves where we did different actions with a very long spring coil and students had to record results.  Lab due Oct. 12th.

Mon - We reviewed the questions from last class together as a class.  We did notes on Significant Figures and Operations as well as notes on Formula Manipulation.  Students need to complete Pg. 13 #2ac,3ac,4ac,5ac from their notes as well as Pg. 16 odd numbers from their notes.  DUE NEXT CLASS.
Tue - Chapter Review: Pg. 24 #31-39,41,42. DUE NEXT CLASS.  Unit 1 Exam Sept. 25 (tuesday).

Wed - Notes on Proper Keyboarding and Posture.  Students went to the lab and started working on a Webquest to build a Flyer on proper Keyboarding Tequniques and Posture to prevent Workplace injuries.

September 4 - 7: Welcome Back

PHYSICS 20
Tue - Briefly discussed what Physics actually is and then students went into groups and did a Lab on building the tallest free-standing structure that they could with only a piece of paper and a small strip of tape.  The group that built the tallest structure gets a 50% off of a Future Assignment.
Wed - We worked (as a class) on how to formally complete a Lab Report.  Students need to finish the conclusion for last class --> I proposed a question to them that they need to consider and wrap up the Lab for next class (Friday)
Thur - no class
Fri - We discussed last class' homework.  We then moved on to notes on Everyday Physics Terms, Metric System, Converting Units.  No homework.

FP 10
Tue - Course Outline and Classroom Expectations.  We briefly discussed Measurements (to introduce the opening unit).
Wed - We got refreshed on Proportional Reasoning and then moved on to Conversions of Imperial Units.  Students were warned of a quiz tomorrow.
Thur - We reviewed yesturday's lesson and then we had a Measurement Quiz.  After that, we did a couple examples of conversions.  Assignment: Pg. 11 #1-7.  Due next class.
Fri - Notes on Unit Analysis.  Then I did an example.  I assigned Pg. 11 #9,10,11.

Tue - Course Outline and Classroom Expectations.  We briefly discussed Inductive and Deductive Reasoning to introduce the opening Unit.
Wed - Went to the computer lab and defined terms and found examples of Inductive & Deductive reasoning as well as terms that deal with Unit 1.  Will discuss more next class.
Thur - math tutorial/work period.
Fri - Ch. 1.1: Making Conjectures: Inductive Reasoning.  We did several examples of patterns in numbers and made (and proved) several conjectures.  Assign: Pg. 12 #3,7,8,9,13.  Due next class.

Thur - Course Outline and then moved on to Unit 1:Sequences & Series.  We did a number of examples together and then students started working on the assignment.  This whole section (1.1) is due next class (next day 3) and students are expected to be prepared to work on Ch. 1.2.

Tue - Course Outline and Classroom Expectations.  We briefly discussed Projects that students can expect to see as well as what Linear Relations are (to introduce the opening unit).
Wed - I did an example of Linear Relations with the class and then assigned Pg. 22 #1ab for homework.  DUE NEXT CLASS.
Thur - Reviewed a couple different Scenarios regarding positive/negative linear relations.  Students worked on assignment: Pg. 22 #2, 3 - DUE NEXT CLASS.
Fri - Work period - some students stayed in class and worked on an assignment and others went to the computer lab to research and play Linear Relations Games/Puzzles.

IP 10
Tue - Course Outline and Classroom Expectations.  We briefly discussed Internet Safety and Privacy.
Wed - Went to the computer lab and started working in groups on an assignment on Privacy.  Will continue next class.
Thur - Students continued working on their assignment from yesturday.  Then they moved on to working on Privacy Case Studies.  We will wrap up both of these assignments next class.
Fri - "Fun Friday" - students created an advertisement for some NEW technology they created.  Marketing must be a factor in their advertisement.  We will come up with a Marking Scheme and then students will Peer Edit/Correct the advertisements.
